If it was up to you to write The Law which regulated the use of CCTV Cameras how would you deal with:1) Hidden CCTV Cameras 2) Public CCTV Cameras 3) Recording without permission 4) Cellular Phone video cameras And in general what would be allowed and under what conditions?

I would allow cameras everywhere except in restrooms, fitting rooms, and bedrooms. I would also male it a law that a sign has to be displayed stating that you are being monitored on cctv. Mobile phones are the same thing as cameras. No biggie. One thing I don’t like is cameras everywhere on the streets. I feel this is a violation of ones rights.

i want it to be appropriate.put monitoring devices/systems where it is appropriate and does not breach any civil right. unless it is a matter of national security or world order for that matter, i want to keep my private life to myself.

It should be treated like traffic signage. If it promotes the public good; is useful for preventing a general public health/traffic/crime concern; if it does not violate any applicable law for the area in which it is placed; if it does not violate any person's right to privacy as defined by local law; if it is placed in areas as agreed upon by the city council or county level authority for the area concerned ahead of time; if it is administratively appropriate as a solution to a critical problem at hand (for instance, traffic control or crime prevention); if the use of the cameras is expected to reduce the overall expense of the city/county for the purpose of rendering critical services such as police, fire, or medical emergency; if the public is presented an opportunity to comment on the camera placement before said council/authority if they so choose (advance notification of placement of new CCTV not required--the opportunity to learn about placement in advance via web site and a body before which comment is heard is required); if the ongoing expense does not present excessive cost burden to the tax-payers (as defined by local law); if the camera's use is adequately signed and notified to local residents via some means defined by local law; if a grievance forum is available for disputing the use of filmed images in extreme circumstances (victims of crime, spousal abuse, etc); and subject to all rights a filmed person should expect under city/state/federal law to file a grievance with the courts, then otherwise CCTV should not be restricted as to where and under what circumstances it is placed. It should not be required to ask permission of the N people you are filming commiting a crime with your cell phone or camera. IT also should be assumed that if a person walks about in public he implicitly consents to being filmed by whomever, private or public camera.

The ultimate goal (technologically, and for the law) should be the placement of a CCTV camera with audio so that every millimeter of the earth, inside buildings and outside is viewable from every angle in every darkness or lightness for every second of the day or night. These CCTV feeds should then be made available without exception online, with audio feed and transcriptions of the audio with a full text search. Everyone in the world should be able to tune in live or view the history as they wish. Now, I hear you all telling me that the above is absurd for various reasons, yet it is exactly where the world is moving to (legal or not).. except of course, you and I aren't allowed to watch.
