CCTVxperts.com in Pakistan

CCTV - closed circuit television – is increasingly becoming an essential tool to help reduce crime, and protect public spaces around Pakistan. In town and city centres and other potential crime hot-spots, CCTV installations and the effects of CCTV security systems are clear from the evidences supplied by CCTV footage.

Thank author of this post/comment"CCTV and Crime"

I might suggest that CCTV *INCREASES* crime. Look at the facts. There is more CCTV and more crime in the world today. 40 years ago there was less CCTV and less crime!

So, CCTV may make you feel secure, but does it actually HELP? Could it actually increase crime? The statistics would say it does.

I am not sure my friend what statistics are you referring to that states "CCTV has directly increased crime"? It's like saying deploying more security personnel or Police patrols increase crime? Doesn't make sense to me. We may take an example of UK where CCTV has played a vital role in not only deterring criminals but also identifying them. I agree that the crime has increased over the years but you cannot relate that to CCTV as we might say it is due to the recession, poverty and other political and social changes in our society today. CCTV is rather a tool to deter and solve crime cases and that is proven to date without the shadow of a doubt.

Thank author of this post/comment"Your implication that CCTV has reduced crime"

has nothing more to support it that than a warm cozy feeling you get by creating a police state...

Before CCTV people were deterred from committing crimes and also cases were solved. You say the CCTV has helped in those areas. I say it it is a lazy cop out.

Crime will only be deterred by the development of a happy, energetic society... not one based on junk food and boredom as ours is now. And crimes will only be solved by sharp detectives that realize their PRIMARY tool is their BRAINS.

"CCTVXperts.com"

All I am saying is that you have no facts to show which supports your original allegation that suggested "CCTV increases crime". As I said crime figures are to do with social and economic changes in the society and it seems you agree with me on that part that we need to have a happy and energetic society. Now, untill we have that we need to feel secure or live in fear!!!

Thank author of this post/comment"Figures to show CCTV Reduces Crime"

And, you have none to show that CCTV reduces crime. But we both know that the use of CCTV is increasing as well as the rates of crime.

You really think someone feel "secure" and free of "fear" cause there is a bunch of CCTV in use?

In this generation cameras can PTZ- pan, tilt and zoom, have higher resolution options, a large variety of lenses and are also capable of operating in 'night vision. Audio is also a part of CCTV DVR technology. An operator is now able to synchronize motion based video events with audio analysis. DDTV DVR systems are compatible with earlier camera technology, and are scaleable, flexible and can be integrated with a broad range of other management systems, such as access control and building management systems.

""Bunch Of CCTV""

Dear George! You tell me if having CCTV didn't make you feel secure or help in reducing crime then why there are more than 10, 000 CCTV cameras in London alone? And why every other house in the UK has CCTV or looking to get CCTV installed? It doesn't take a super human to figure out its huge impact in solving crime cases and "feeling secure" as a result. I am not sure what is your problem mate with CCTV or if you work for a particular anti-CCTV lobby.

Thank author of this post/comment"10,000 CCTV Cameras"

Yeah... 10, 000 CCTV Cameras and crime is getting worse! Do we need one per person? I bet that wouldn't even be enough to turn the tide on crime.

The answer is to YOUR question is FEAR and Salesman taking advantage of FEAR.

Do you have CCTV in your bathroom to make sure no one steal (or uses) too much toilet paper? Why not? How about your bed room to make sure your partner isn't up to no good when you aren't home?

Why not develop solutions so that people don't just "feel secure" but actually are! Not because of some weapon to surveillance, but because of a positive development in your culture.

"Crime Reduction"

My answer to your theory is quite simple! You talked about the figures so lets face the figures. CCTV has directly help not only in solving crime cases but help in their significant reduction.

Recently a sex attacker at large since years in london area eventually caught on CCTV and a Freedom of Information request sent to the police a year ago showed that, since the installation of the CCTV, crime in the vicinity of the subway had reduced by 93%.

Crime has always been there as we don't live in an ideal world and we need to take measures towards personal and public safety in general. It's like you can take example of anything: For instance we can debate that the Internet has prevailed paedophiles access to young children and government had to take necessary steps to bring new legislations in place. So my friend there is no point putting a camera in your bathroom or at your

partner's throat as of course its not going to make you feel secure. There are legislations in place for CCTV in terms of privacy and civil liberties and If you wish I can give you a whole document to read.

You are swaying the debate towards social development of the society which is a different argument altogether and like i said before it depends on many factors including political, economical and social changes in the modern society and I am not arguing on that.

I am sure most would agree that CCTV is a fantastic tool which with the right usage can and has helped make a difference in our lives. Of course the government needs to ensure that the right legislations are in place to protect privacy and civil liberties

Thank author of this post/comment"Reduced or Shifted"

Ok, "crime in the vicinity of the subway had reduced." So was crime reduced or was it moved? Chances are it was moved.

But either way, your plan necessitates then needs for 100% coverage by CCTV and therefore a completely different view of privacy and civil liberties.

"So my friend there is no point putting a camera in your bathroom or at your

partner's throat as of course its not going to make you feel secure."

If CCTV in the subways reduces crime there by 93%, you can bet that CCTV in your bedroom will reduce the chance of crime in your house!

Compare these situations:

1) Your bedroom, as I assume it is now. Without any CCTV of any kind.

2) Your bedroom has 24 hour, 100% coverage by CCTV with infrared illumination and a direct feed to the Police Department.

Someone breaks in your house in the middle of the night with plans to assault you. Which offers you protection? Which will result in a guarantee the criminal is apprehended?

CCTV is mean to reduce the loss and destroy of crime or accident at the earlest time; and to find out the persons who are responsible for the accident. If there is relationship between CCTV Surveillance and crime, it should be the increasing crime leds to the highly development of CCTV industry. I don't think that there are more and more popele who would like to challenge CCTV to perpetrate a crime.

Thank author of this post/comment"It Helps with the Investigation"

@Jason @George - CCTV does not necessarily improve the amount of crime taking place, rather it helps cops with their investigations. Police detectives improve their investigative abilities with new technology.
