YouTube: Information Security—Before & After Public-Key Cryptography

Thank author of this post/comment[Recorded Jan 26, 2005] Whitfield Diffie, a key figure in the discovery of public-key cryptography, traces the growth of information security through the 20th century and into the 21st. In the 1970s, the world of information security was transformed by public-key cryptography, the radical revision of cryptographic thinking that allowed people with no prior contact to communicate securely. "Public key" solved security problems born of the revolution in information technology that characterized the 20th century and made Internet commerce possible. Security problems rarely stay solved, however. Continuing growth in computing, networking, and wireless applications have given rise to new security problems that are already confronting us.

I completely agree with you Jessia. Nowadays, you can't be sure when you are secured or not. There are different means to get into someone else's privacy. If authorities have developed some perfect ways to get some evidences againsta certain criminal, criminals have developed devices to protect themselves, too. A typical human indeed. Very intelligent and wise just as expected. Yet, how about the innocent people who have nothing. Who cannot afford to buy or pay for all these gadgets? What's the least that they can do?

As what mostly say, cryptography is the study of hiding information. This field has improved and there is already a modern cryptography which works better. There are already various types of encryption methods and types made through cryptography.

I think this is also going to be a big help for the security of information most especially those who have networking businesses. Thank you for sharing the post. Great day.

I still think that no matter what advances in internet security there are, for file sharing, public key cryptography is one of the safest ways to keep your data for your eyes and the eyes of the person you intend to send it to. Of course, once you've send the data than it is only as safe as the recipient's computer is, so there might always be a leak on that end no matter how careful you are.

Cryptography has come a long way and will continue to evolve as advancements in information technology are introduced. It is a critical component of information technology whose issue still remains to be security. These 3 will forever be inter-related and very much a part of our everyday life since information technology and computers are already necessities for us. IT has succeeded in creating a need, a tremendous demand in today's world.

"Security problems rarely stay solved" I agree with this statement. Hackers are not stupid. That is why the good guys must continually seek ways to keep the security technology updated to keep the interest of many and the security privacy of people protected.
