IP address tracing software and/or sites? - Data Leaks
| IP address tracing software and/or sites? Getting IP addresses is no hard task, but tracing them can be a hassle, and thats what i need help with. Before anyone screams 'HACKER'!!! let me explain my purposes first, lol. My brother is an actual computer hacker and hes off at college right now and i know for a fact that someone is tampering with my computer's data and breaking into my system, nothing tragic is happening but i notice them, lol. My brother always used to crack into my computer for fun and games to mess with me, and i have a strong gut feeling that its him messing with my computer, and i have sent documents from him that leaked his IP address to me and i know through IP's you can trace the source, so i want to trace the IP address that was leaked to see if its coming from the area where his university is so i can finally prove him wrong after all the denial, lol. Some programs i heard were good with tracking IPs were ones like cain and able and john the ripper, but theyre giving me difficulty downloading because in have Winzip while it requires Winrar, and i dont want to go through the process of trying to get winrar cause every source ive looked says i need to pay but i just want something fast for right now, so does anyone know of any good and reliable IP tracing software and/or sites??? Thanks :-) nevermind, Cain and able and John the ripper are password cracking prgrams, lol. my mistake :-P |

Just do a whois lookup. If you use a real operating system ie: not windows.. .you can probably do it on the command line. |
| That's terrible. I just hate it when I encounter cases of data leaks. I think it only creates privacy issues. Hence, we really have to be careful in operating our own computer most especially online. Actually, I am interested n learning more things about IP address and how it traces software or other sites. If anyone can share good points, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and great day. |
| The technology has change the world that we have today compare to the past century life we had before. As we enter the computer world, almost everything is possible. With this accessibility we have, we sometimes failed to understand the great disadvantage it gives to people when it comes to the private info that should only be kept in their selves as possible. Human should know how to morally used the things that they have now. |

Leakage on some aspect that is center on the accessibility of some expert in computer field is really alarming. I don't really see the point of knowing the great deal this stuff offers to people involve but for people like me that likes to surf daily in online site, It is really important. |
| Yikes! Sounds like you might have an easier time just asking your brother to stop messing with your computer, or is that the point, you want to prove to him that you can hack as well? Don't know if you can call yourself "not a hacker" if you go to all that trouble, but I have a feeling most hackers believe they're doing it for a good cause and don't deserve all the flack they get. |
