Credit Card CallsIdentity Theft - Identity Theft
Credit Card Calls In the area I live in, some elderly people have getting calls from "Government Assisstance" saying they are going to add 100.00 in assitance money to their credit card. Then the person on the other line takes the credit card info and charges 100.00 to the card. This was just in the news yesterday, so you may want to give your elderly family members a heads up.
It's terrible how these places take advantage of the elderly. Their chances of getting the money is pretty good, considering how trusting the elderly can be. We need people who know older people to go around and let them know about these scum.
We used to also have calls that people were saying they were trying to get donations for I think policemen or state troopers and it was a scam. It happens. Just be very careful, and ask a lot of questions too.
Yes these scumbags seem to think the elderly are easy targets and because of their trusting nature having grown up in a different time the scumbags are usually right and get away with it.There are just sooooooooo many scams directed at them it would be difficult to cover them all in a very quick way. The only way I can see is to have someone travel around the community centres that whold bingo and such for the elderly and give talks and hand out pamphlets but you will probably never see that done en masse. It's a very unfortunate thing that the people that built this country are getting bilked every day of the year somewhere. Sad comment for our NOW society.
Thats awful!! It is so cruel to do this to someone!! I think people take advantedge of the fact that the elderly come from a world that is totally different than the one we live in now.
These are the worse criminals ever!!! They prey on the elderly. And take advantage of them. These criminals need a dark hole to crawl in and rot away. One day they will be old also. somebody will do the same to them.
Yes, I do agree, alot of people target older people, espcialy with the newspaper and fony ads....
I'm helping promote a great website that I found called EveryCall.us, which was created to help people figure out who is calling them and if it is a scam related call or not. You can search the telephone number that shows up on your caller ID and see what other people have commented on about that number. You can also leave a call report to help others based on your experience. I've found this site to be a GREAT resource and I told the owner I'd help him get the word out about his site. I hope this helps. Here is the link below:
That is why they are called scourge of the city and the rotten menace to the society. Those professionals don't believe on God or any divine powers they only believe in power and money. I don't think they are thinking that someday when they grew old someone will do the same to them, you know why? Because they won't be so gullible to it because once in their lifetime they've committed the same act so they are prone to such deception, sometimes too prone that they become so suspicious.
It is indeed a bad feeling when you notice someone has taken advantage of you. There exist inhumane people out there and woe unto them if they are ever caught. It has to with what sort of conscience a person has and not even that these same people will ever grow old. The elderly are to be respected, not in one or two but all aspects. Campaigns against these fraudsters should be geared up but the best method would be to trace the callers so they can eventually be brought to book.
Our elderly are prone to theft, they are vulnerable to this hideous act as children are. That is why we are here to inform them on what is happening and what to what might happen. Let us not just make them a home buddy, let them explore and go out, just make sure that you accompany them always. This identity theft towards elderly is too much, i want the people behind this jailed. :)
I am so glad that I never had to worry about a credit card call from any company, whatsoever. No offense to those people out there that have been called for either credit card fraud or for late payments on their card. Either way, I would surely stay as far from these sorts of transactions as possible.
Good for you Eve. But i think it is not that bad for those who are using cards to receive their payments and their salaries. i think people just have to be very careful on this matter so that they would not be fooled and get victimized by this thieves.
Most definitely so, Sean. You are right, by all means. I do not like the idea of credit cards, but I do think that they can indeed be very much beneficial to one's lifestyle, depending upon what it is a person does.
Using a credit card for purchase is a decent choice, using it for cash withdrawals, in most cases, is a no, no.
cash withdrawals will only cause problems, and can easily put a person in debt.
Actually it does not matter how you spend, whether you use credit cards or cash, it does not matter. I have to agree with Sean, it all depends on how you handle your finances that matters. And being extra careful when handling your finances must be taken in consideration. :) But anyway, you can still go for what you prefer. Have a good day people and keep all of those posts coming.
