Invest in a Shredder

You would be amazed at how many people rummage through your garbage when you are sleeping or if you live in an apartment building they do it at night as well.

One of the best ways to prevent identity theft is to invest in a cheap shredder. Tear all your envelopes with your name and address in half and shred half of it before putting the other half in the garbage.

The Banks and Credit card companies that send you those neat "convenient" cheques to use instead of using your credit card. These have your name AND ACCOUNT NUMBERS on them. Make sure you shred those and don't just toss them in the garbage. Anything that comes into your home with your name and address and any information about you personally, SHRED IT!! Get rid of it in the safest way possible.

I agree with you on this, you never know who is picking thru your trash and a paper shredder is a great investment. If one doen't have room in their budget for one at least tear up any personal info on paperwork.

Yup, I've started to use a shredder all the time now. At one point i used to just rip my papers up but i realized it would still be quite easy to piece them together and get the information needed. A shredder makes that IMPOSSIBLE.

I have a shredder. The company I use to work for use to throw out alot of personal info in the trash that belonged to our customers after the deal closed. Now he hires a shredding company to come in and shred the stuff.

Simply ripping your credit card bills, statements and whatnot are just not enough. When I sort through my mail, I sit right near the shredder and recycled trash can and shred or recycle accordingly. It works like a charm and I don't end up having piles and piles of mail on my desk.

You should shred everything you get in the mail. All someone needs is your first name and your address to buy your information online. Not only that there’s a lot of information that is sent to you in the mail that you wouldn’t consider important information but is to a thief. Think about the letters mom wrote you and you threw away the envelope. Her last name is right there all they need to start using your credit!!!

It won't be an awfull decision to invest on a shredder, after all its all about saving your personal confidentialities.

If you or your company has a lot of documents to shred you can look into using a professional document destruction company. Most can shred full 3-ring binders, books, and a whole lot more. I work for a document shredding company and we can shred just about anything. For businesses, it's more cost effective to use professional services. We use a cross-shredding process which makes it impossible to piece documents together afterawrds. This is somewhat of a plug for our company, but we are regionally targeted so if you're from somewhere else so a search in your your area. Our company is www.shredquick.com.

As we all know. Identity theft is on the rise and a shredder, cross-cut if possible is a must. As you said, you can start cheaper but quality is priceless

Shred receipts, credit card applications, bank statements, CD and more with a paper shredder for your privacy and security.

Cross cut paper shredder will more confidential than strip cut shredder.

Shredding is required by law for many industries for a reason! With people using the Internet to gamble and run up many other charges with credit cards, it's really easy for things to get out of control if your information is leaked. Do not allow your personal or business information to get out - shred it yourself.

Businesses are accountable for destroying personal information about employees and customers.

Shredding is so important! You need to make sure that you aren't just ripping up your documents. You never know who is going through your trash. I personally go to a document shredding company. I've tried several but the one I like the best is Stordok. Here's their website: www.stordok.com

Keep safe!

How do you know whether a "shredding company" reviews, copies, etc documents before they are shredded? What if they think their customer is "suspicious" will they call the authorities to review the documents before shredding? What if an employee is a "bad apple" might they copy key information first?

Might you be better off shredding at home and then letting your gerbils used the shredded papers for nesting?

If you want someone to pay attention to your post, why not tell us something interesting about shredders and id theft and not just a list of brands. That is a piss-poor way to get someone to click to your website, much less make a purchase!
