Using a public computer for email

Keter from the garage door -

I have often wondered how safe it is to use a public terminal at an airport say, for sending or receiving email. Using a web-based email program leaves one open to having the cookies recorded by the system and that is a dangerous idea. Not sure if one can delete the cache or the cookies on these terminals anyway, so aren't they a risk to use?

Comment #1 George from Montana -

I would never use a public computer. I would never use a public connection wifi or cable in cybercafe, hotel, etc without a secure channel opened through it.
