One Card to Rule Them All

Just like that of Tolkien's popular masterpiece the National ID wants to rule them all, a single ID that would contain almost all of the person's personal information, government and private accounts. Though in paper this might look convenient in practice, it might be pretty risky especially as it would be an easy target for identity thefts and criminals. One card rules them all, so expect criminals to have the technology to utilize such all around card for their own greedy benefits.

Do you really think the "CARD" will contain any information? At most it will contain a unique identifier that will index a central database... that database might contain anything and/or links to more stuff.

Of course if one gets the identifier on a CARD changed, then they magically become someone else, unquestioned.

Well having a national ID could be good option but many people are worried whether it can secure well a person’s personal information. I think it must be introduced how it works as a card ruling all, because we may just be surprised one day that our information isn't safe anymore.

It might be risky, but if it could be a way to catch thefts, why not? Now, they couldn't be saved at all.

It is against the founding concepts of the United States. It is against what had made the United States the greatest nation on earth.

The shift toward these kinds of things and away from the founding principals is what has led the United States down its path to hell.

Yes, having this National ID is very risky because once crooks get their hands on the database, that would be the end of the U.S. Security. And the government can't say that this is not possible. Those Bin Laden followers were able to stage the 9/11 tragedy, weren't they? No one can really say that something like this or something worse won't happen again. Maybe the government should modify this ID system.

I don't know if such a system will be implemented in my country but surely it would have many oppositions and resistance. My mom had experienced that someone else used her social security account to borrow a loan and got away with it. It is really difficult to say that a system is fail proof.
