As an ebay seller I often get questions from prospective buyers. It's usually a simple matter to check this is authentic by checking the item number, but I wonder if it would be possible for phishing software to extract that from the auction details and send out a phoney request?

It would be best to use the email system internal to ebay to talk with buyers and/or sellers.

No I'm talking about that, I regularly get emails that look exactly like the ebay internal question from buyer, email. It is almost impossible to tell the difference excepting that the message is usually not appropriate to to the stuff I am selling.

You get those in your regular email box... or the ebay box when you are logged into ebay.com.Ignore the stuff in your regular email and only check messages on ebay.com

Well, you can't really blame ebay for unwanted spam mails that you regularly receive. Maybe there is a website you've visited once that phished out your e-mail. It is also a probability that one of your customers might probably use your e-mail to their own advantage by including your e-mail in their email marketing hit list. What I suggest is just to truncate any e-mails that you are not sure or just spams in order to avoid wasting time and probably can damage your system if there are harmful wares hidden with in that e-mail.

The ebay email should have installed anti phishing software. You should be able to easily click the spam this button in your mail box so the next time your receive from this customer you will not be bother anymore. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
