Ebay Scams?

zoya from middle of america -

Are Ebay Scams common? How do you prevent yourself from being scammed via Ebay? I have been usng Ebay for a couple years, and so far have had only good luck. *knock on wood*

Comment #1 RiverQueen from Joisey, on the Continent -

Oh my yes there are e-bay scammers so there must be e-bay scams. I had a very large ticketed item up on e-bay for two weeks and in that two weeks I had at least 6 different e-mails requesting my lowest price and would I be interested in escrow.

However, they wanted to use "their" escrow people and I even checked one of them out because he put the financial institutions name in the e-mail and when I contact them they had NEVER heard of this person.

I always checked it out if I could but if I couldn't I would tell them that if they wanted to do escrow I could use the law firm I work with because we do escrow on real estate all the time. FUNNY THING... I never heard back from these people again.

Your question made me think of those stupid "mystery gift cards". Does anyone know someone that has actually paid for a gift card that you don't know what is on it. That is just nuts to me.

Comment #3 shaun from nova scotia -

Mystery gift cards?!? People actually pay for that? It would suck if iyou paid 20 dollars and found out the card was only worth 5 dollars! Ha.
