Article: Maintaining Privacy in an Apartment

Thank author of this post/commentOne of the many reasons why a lot of people prefer not to live in an apartment building is the privacy. The walls are just thin enough to allow conversations to be overheard next door. Imagine yourself having an animated conversation with someone in your apartment. Without your knowledge, your neighbor gets to find out the gist of your conversation, intentionally or unintentionally, because of the thin barrier separating your units.

In my apartment there is about 3' from my floor to the ceiling of the apartment below me. My floor is cement with hardwood on top. I never hear the neighbors upstairs or downstairs. The walls that separate me from my neighbors are probably 9 or 12" thick cement. Again I never hear them.

The only exception is when someone is drilling the cement wall, or sometimes a little noise or voices from the ventilation shaft that runs up the bathroom wall.

Hi there!

Living in an apartment is really a challenge most especially for those with their families. We all know that apartments have limited space. You also have to be considerate because only thin barrier is separating your units. Sometimes, we are not aware that our neighbors can overhear the gist of your conversation. I think before you buy an apartment, you should check it first.

Thank you so much and have a great day to all!

Every homeowner sees to it that the shelter where they live is filled with privacy. It is our privileged and we should try to make sure that other people do not disturb us and know things most especially those we keep confidential.

But, of course, we should also have to respect our neighbourhoods that we also respect their own privacy. It is just a matter of respect to one another.

Besides overhearing other people's business, one can't even concentrate especially if you have a noisy next door neighbor. While one can always find a better apartment, any person with a tight budget knows better. While the saying "beggars can't be choosers", those who want to seek an apartment with thicker wall is always an option. Try looking for that kind of peaceful and semi-private apartment. If you have then lucky for you.

That is true. There are some apartments with thin walls that separates units and so it is important that we check about it. For me, privacy is very important. If my neighbor are to hear our conversations then I am out of that place. There are some other places out there to where we can rent much better apartments. We just have to look for them. Good day to all.
