Many places verify your check transaction by sending your checking account number (from your check) and your DL # to a central reporting databases.Now, if someone steals your checks (but not your drivers license) they wouldn't be able to provide all the correct information (unless you so nicely has your DL # imprinted on your checks already). Once you write your DL # on your check, it isn't likely someone will steal that check and try to use it. They also want your DL # to track you down if the check bounces. |
