... (RSS Feed) - December 20, 2005 – A small but significant change was made to the Real ID Act, when Congress modified certain requirements for victims of domestic violence. Specifically, language inserted in another law will allow victims of domestic violence to use a PO Box instead of a physical address when obtaining a driver’s license Comment #1 Jose (64.76.36.198) - "will allow victims of domestic violence"... that will of course lead to bogus allegations of domestic violence by those seeking privacy. Comment #2 matt from right there!!! - I have mixed emotions about this law. There are times when a woman may need to hide a get away from an abuser. There are cases of bogus complaints of domestic abuse, why take the chance? Let women seek protections if they are needed. Remember we all have mothers. Comment #3 Callie from The North - I am glad that this has been implemented. It is so easy nowadays for the stupid weirdos or exes to find anyone. I know a family who has been deeply hurt by an ex-husband finally finding his ex-wife and shooting her. Luckily she lived, but not without any serious injury - she is paralyzed from the waist down and will never be the same. If she had a PO box he never would have found her and this never would have happened.
