Unique ID for Access Control Applications

Atmel Corporation, a global leader in the development and fabrication of advanced semiconductor solutions, has announced the availability of its ATA5567 small-sized 330-bit read/write transponder IDIC (Identification Integrated Circuit) with unique ID, which is optimised for next-generation access-control ISO cards and key fobs as used in access control systems (hotel rooms, engineering departments and offices, time recording systems, parking lots) and as membership cards. Since the device uses low frequency (LF), it can be used worldwide; it is insensitive to rugged environments and can also be used in less-than-ideal conditions (wet, dirty, shielded by metal, out of sight, or worn on the body) which normally complicate the use of RFID devices. The ATA5567 is extremely small.

I am working for The oberoi group of hotels. The company is into big time expansion and is coming up with newer properties. We believe in serving our guests in the best possible way and thus are in the process of employing RFID technology in the hotel. I would like to know more about it and thus seek your cooperation in doing so. Please give me details of it and how it can be employed in hotel scenario along with the cost structure, if possible.

thanking you

regards

Great news if this product is really as robust as promised. I've worked in the hotel business in the last 6 years and a HUGE problem is the constant de-programming of room cards. Especially at the large resorts in Punta Cana, where the way to a guest room from the reception can take up to 15 minutes, it is a big hassle for the guests.

This often makes up for a significant amount of guest complaints, lowering the rating of the hotel.

I think it's definitely worth trying out this new technology.
