snowbird (1) from The North -

There is quite a bit of controversy over this. Some would say that our privacy is being intruded on and some would say, it is a good thing to find or identify lost loved ones. I personally have a hard time with this tracking thing, because I am a mother and if something were to happen to my child, I would want to be able to locate my child immediatly. Now if I wasn't a mother, I'm sure my opinion would be with the majority and say that it is an invasion of my privacy. I personally would not want the government to know where I am at all times, but I would want to be able to sleep at night knowing that my child is safe.

Comment #1 Elroy from New York -

If it could locate your child... then it could locate anything, anywhere.

I believe what it might do is "identify" your child. The door would be open to tracking (locating).

Besides what would keep some creap from cutting the thing out?

Comment #2 peekaboo from from my desk! -

I have heard about that. I have kids and having one of them dissapear like that would just kill me.

My DD didn't tell my she was going over to her friends house (just down the block) which is a strict rule in our house, and I ran around the neighbor hood looking for her. I even knocked on the door that she was at, but they didn't hear me, so I thought she got snatch. I was just about to call the police when she walked in the door.

The time I wasted running around the neighborhood looking for her, some creep could have already done something to her. If she was chipped, I could have call in the code and had her immediately tracked!!

And yes Elroy, you bring up a good point, but they would need to know where the chip was first in order to cut it out.
