Credit Card Transaction

Kyndra from Somewhere Out There -

We were in Walmart on Friday night and my husband used his debit/credit card to pay for our items. Every time he uses his card to pay they have to ask to see his ID. When I use mine they never have to see my ID. I was curious and asked the cashier why. She said that he uses his so often they have to make sure it is actually him using the card.

Comment #1 Martin from Kansas -

I believe if your card is unsigned they will ask for your id. I find maybe 1 out of 100 ask. They always look at the back of the card because they need to enter the 3 digit number from the back.

Almost 100% of the time they ask you to write your ID # on the slip, but never ask to see your ID and don't seem to pay much attention to what number you write down.

Comment #2 RiverQueen from Joisey, on the Continent -

I have never been asked for ID when I present my credit card because they check it through the terminal.

However, I could understand if there is a "watch" or "alarm" on somebody's card that they would want further ID.

However, at Christmas I use mine so often that I can't understand why they would use that as the reason to see further ID.
