Thank author of this post/commentMy OS is windows 7 and i have norton internet security. the problem is that when i checked windows firewall from control panel, its turned off and i am not allowed to make any changes. a message says that norton firewall is managing those settings. i'm totally out of my league here, but shouldn't windows firewall be turned on?

I actually have almost the same problem. I could not make any changes with the firewall in my computer, and it shows an error message. I wonder what the problem is. I followed the basic troubleshooting flows but it didn't work.

I think it needs to be reformatted. If this happens what are some of the basic security measures are needed to resolve? I just want to problem to get resolved.

I believe that your computer's operating system only uses one type of security system at a time, and if you acquire another one, then your automatic windows protection will be turned off automatically as the other program is taking over all of its previous functions. I believe that it is nothing to be worried or concerned about, all pretty ordinary and a normal thing to expect when you run a separate security software program.
