GPS Jammer

Elroy from New York -

Are ther personal GPS jammers available that would for example jam a GPS being used in your car?

Comment #1 PATRICK from HOUSTON, TEXAS -

If I am not mistaken you can jam them with regular freq jammer. It must send and receive so if you cut off either the sending or the receiving it want work. Even a cell phone jammer might work.

Comment #2 Conyngham from the windy city -

Why would anyone want to jam a GPS receiver? There are no negative connotations to using such a device that I can think of and jamming them would seem to be the equivalent of writing a virus for the 'fun' of it. Who would think of doing such a thing? True some virus's are probably written with no obvious motive, but jamming a personal device like a GPS receiver makes as much sense as jamming random cell phones. Why do it?

Comment #3 Kings from parallel street -

How accurate are the GPS devices one sees in cars these days? Does one have to subscribe to a data feed in order to get them to work or is it built into the device? Assuming one is driving across the country how does one get it to update the required information? I am sure it is all quite straight forward, but I have never read anything about them and it seems a bit of a puzzle how they really work.

Comment #4 Plums from the thrush tree -

I was watching a cab driver in the UK navigating the maze of narrow streets there (driving on the wrong side of the road as they do!) using a GPS receiver. Amazing to see the accuracy of it and I'm assuming that it becomes fairly intuitive to use it after a little practise. I'm sure that he was relying on it entirely to navigate as he didn't seem to know the area well at all.

Comment #5 Conyngham from the windy city -

I agree that it is an amazing aid to driving especially in unknown areas. In the old days a cab driver in a great city like London had to memorize the streets of most of the city to qualify for a black cab license. I'm sure that today with GPS, this is a thing of the past!

Comment #6 Keter from the garage door -

With the prices of all of these items coming down so much over the years they are no longer the gimmick they were once thought to be when they first arrived on the market. I was in a store the other day that was selling what looked like a no-name brand at ridiculously low prices. Fact is that they probably all come out of the same Chinese manufacturing plant, and are all pretty efficient at doing the job.

A GPS jammer is designed for guard against GPS satellite posioning tracking, its ideal for cover person, car or elsewhere concerned about been traced. A GPS jammer could block GPS tracker/logging and GPS navigation. Our new developped model could block GPS/GSM and GPS/CDMA tracker also.

GPS jammer. Maybe some people dont want to be tracked if it is not their choice. If you an individual is being tracked without you knowing it, should you not have the right to say no. Think of all the crazy ex's you have showing up at your favorite coffee shop every time you decide to get a cup. Not so attractive now huh.

Im a Field Service rep.

My company is issuing phones that use GPS to tell them exactly where I am, where ive been, how many miles Ive driven, how fast Im going...........

IF I dont want them to know I left early, , went to the strip club for lunch or WHATEVER.....

How do I defeat the GPS device in the phone??

It has an internal battery to hold address book and power GPS when power is lost

A GPS jammer is a great accessory for sales staff that have tracking on their vehicles. Someone who wants to take a lunch out of their territory or run home for a forgotten item no longer needs to do a lot of explaining.
