| Questions: I got into a car crash which wasn't my fault - what to do? Long story short, I was t-boned on the left side of my car. The police would not come because it occurred in the parking lot of a shopping mall so it's considered private property. I've exhausted all options. None of the surveillance cameras have footage of the accident and the security officers did not witness the accident. The woman totally lied about what happened. She said that I sped out of the parking garage unsafely while she was on the main road causing her to collide into the side of my car. TOTAL BS - 100% lying. Somehow she got away with it and my insurance will not do anything further. What can I do? Is it worth getting a lawyer (it cost $8K to fix my car)? Small claims court? |
| I think that is not proper for the police not to investigate at all. They can take a look at the damage caused in the car crashed so they will have an idea who has the greater damage. The authority must use standard procedure for investigating that matter. You can talk to a lawyer about the best thing you can do on this. But, I believe that you can defend yourself as long as you can justify your statement. |
| If it is a matter of what you say against what the other woman says, then unless you are willing to pay a lot for a better lawyer than her, you will not have much of a case, as you said there is no footage, no witnesses, nothing but two people and hearsay. In this instance, as you have already fixed your vehicle, and your insurance has refused damages, it would only be to satisfy pride that you'd take her to court. |
