Best free virus software

Thank author of this post/commentFor a freebie (as long as it's for personal use) I always go for avast. Do a search on Google and download it. An excellent choice for a free scanner.

Thank author of this post/commentDoes avast also have constant updates available that keep up to the minute with the constantly evolving new threats out there? How do they manage to do this and still keep it free? This is what I am paying Norton for as I assumed that it was an expensive business to keep abreast of all the new viruses.

Thank author of this post/commentAt the end of the day you are best protected by using a well established anti-virus package that has frequent and regular updates provided by automatically scheduled downloads which take place transparently in the background as you work. I believe this is still the safest and wisest course.

Thank author of this post/commentI have tried both Nortons and McAfee and found the latter very difficult to customize to my requirements. Truth is that Norton's also caused many a hassle along the way, but I have used it for so long now that I just renew my annual subs without giving it much thought. I know people who won't touch it though as it seems to hog a lot of system resources.

I'm not a fan of any free anti virus cause for me, paid services will always be better than the free ones. I'm currently using Kaspersky 7.0 with a three license.

Computer virus is the most common threat in our pc. It is better if you follow this tips to avoid computer viruses:

1: Install quality antivirus.

2. Scan your system regularly.

3. Update your anti-virus software.

4. Download files only from trusted sites.

5. Install only from authentic CDs.

6. Back up your data regularly.

7. Don't open suspicious e-mail messages or files.

8. Stay informed.

9. Beware of unknown .exe files.

I use avg anti virus. it is good just dont forget to update it regularly.

10 Always scan external peripheral devices or gadgets.
